Could the quaint seaside town of Whitstable be the new Dog capital of the country??
It is fortunate for dog owners and lovers alike that there are quite a number of establishments that welcome dogs with open arms in Whitstable, and when you pair that with the many gorgeous beach and woodland walks, it has all the ingredients to become the one of the most enticing locations to bring your four legged friends!
The town even had it's first ever 'Doggie Pub Crawl' recently which went down a 'doggie' treat with the local hounds leading their owners from one welcoming watering hole to the next where they were treated like rock stars by local publicans.
But you know a place REALLY loves dogs when it offers a menu especially for them! Going above and beyond the usual welcoming bowl of water, popular local bar & restaurant The Rock Lodge not only accomodate, but cater specifically for dogs with a Special 'Doggie Menu' put together by their Executive Chef Adam Wrench. From crackling treats to a meaty stew there's certainly a tasty selection of dishes to choose from so pooches can sit alongside their dining owners whilst they relax and take in the cosy alpine atmosphere.
'At The Rock Lodge we believe dogs are not only friends, they are family and should be able to join you wherever you go and by offering a special doggie menu we hope to offer a more inclusive environment for people to bring their dogs'. Says owner and dog lover Aaron.
So if you're out for a stroll along the beach and you (and your dog) fancy a pit stop on the way back you can expect nothing less than a warm welcome, a hearty meal & a belly rub* for you and your four legged friend!

Adam's professional chefing experience began humbly at the tender age of 14 as probably one of the most important cogs in the kitchen wheel... the wash-up! From the minute he stepped into the hectic environment of the professional kitchen his passion was ignited and his dreams quickly became a reality affording him opportunities to express his creative flair and allowing his culinary ideas to come to life.
'There's nothing more rewarding to me than inspiring recipes and implementing menus that bring satisfaction and joy to our customers', says Adam, 'The positive response since joining the team at The Rock Lodge has been amazing, its such a pleasure to hear so many positive comments'.
Much of the inspiration for the new menu at The Rock Lodge has been drawn from his year of working with and following the aspirations of some of the Chefing greats, as well as his enjoyment of food and the want to share his own twist on some classic dishes. Adam has built up his knowledge and epic skill set over the years both travelling and working in kitchens throughout the UK and across Europe.
Fortunately for the town of Whitstable, Adam has now settled back in his hometown where his talents can be witnessed and tasted first hand at The Rock Lodge!

The bar erupts in shouts & cheers in support of the challengers battling through with a full stomach, sticky fingers and a few swigs of beer as the time limit draws nearer and nearer!
Everyone's heard of 'Man v Food'... Well, now it’s been brought to Whitstable, Kent in the form of the 'Chicken Wing Challenge'! All you need to enter is a belly of iron and the will to win. The rules are simple, eat as many as you can, in the sauce of your choice, in 45 minutes. The current target stands at a mammoth and so far unbeatable 62 wings*.
'It's so much fun at these nights,' says Manager Rosie, 'everyone rallying round in support of the next potential champ and cheering them on really makes for such a great atmosphere!'
If chicken isn’t your thing then do not fear, there is also a deliciously sticky rib challenge too! The current target has been set and so far unbeaten by the iron stomached beast himself, Josh who just so happens to be the current chicken wing challenge champ too, who devoured a meaty 5 and a quarter racks* in 45 minutes back in December. If you think you can knock him off his double title throne, then get down to The Rock Lodge!
All you can eat chicken wings are every Monday & All you can eat ribs on Wednesdays from 6pm with last orders at 8:15pm. Do you accept the challenge? Or will you 'Chicken' out?
